Windows 10 Logo

Windows 10 is a significant change from earlier versions of Windows. It combines the best of touch based devices like tablets with the traditional mouse and keyboard version of Windows that you are already familiar with.

Should You Buy or Upgrade to Windows 10?

New PCs
If you are buying a new PC the answer is easy - Yes. Windows 10 is the fastest, most secure version of Windows and is better than Windows 8 or 7 for all types of PCs.

Upgrading from Windows 8 or 8.1
If you are currently using Windows 8 then the answer is also easy - Yes. Windows 10 refines the Windows 8 user interface and adds great new features like Cortana. Upgrading to Windows 10 is free for the first year of its release.

Upgrading from Windows 7
If you are currently using Windows 7 then the answer is less obvious. If you don't have a touch screen computer and don't like change then you should stick with Windows 7. You might want to turn off automatic installation of updates to prevent an unwanted upgrade. If there are features you like in Windows 10 or want to have the same version of Windows on all your devices then, yes, you should upgrade. The upgrade is free during the first year of its release.

If you don't like it - rollback
You can also roll back to your previous version of Windows within 30 days of the upgrade.

Use the Get Started App

If you are new to Windows 10, watch the excellent Get Started app from Micosoft that comes with Windows 10. It should already be in your Start Menu. If you can't locate it, just type "Get Started" in the Cortana search bar.
